Mirla Carolina is 15 years old and belongs to the Maya Quiche indigenous group. She lives near the small town of Salcajá in southwest of Guatemala, an hour's bus ride from the second largest city in the country - Quetzaltenango (colloquially Xela). Since her mother has been very ill for a long time, she and her brother have to contribute to the family income and cannot continue to go to school. She thinks this is a pity, because Caro likes school very much and has a great talent for ball sports like basketball. The three of them live in a very small space in a very simple accommodation, which they share with another family.

We use YouTube as a video platform, because YouTube offers subtitles easily. Translations are also available in other languages. Simply click on the subtitles button or press the c key (see picture below 1). Clicking on settings, other languages can be selected (see picture below 2). We want to make the videos usable for as many people as possible - even though we are aware that the translation is not always perfect.
